Having good gear is critical to staying safe. An investment in solid safety gear is an investment in your longevity and health.
Bilt Techno 2.0 Bluetooth Helmet: Bilt is the house brand of Cycle Gear and has come to be known as the “K-Mart of Motorcycle Gear.” It’s affordable gear of pretty decent quality… but here’s the real bonus: a 5 year warranty. The electronics in my 1.0 Bluetooth Helmet died after about a month. When I went to the store 4 months later, I let them know and they said, “Go pick out a new helmet.” So, I picked out the 2.0 version which replaced the crappy electronics with Sena-run Bluetooth.
Bilt Techno Jacket: Another decent piece of Bilt gear. It’s a mesh jacket with half-decent armor and a removable liner to make it practical in the summer and for cooler weather riding. Again, you have a 5 year warranty, so when some of the snaps started popping off, I took it back to the store and picked out a new jacket.
Bilt Cafe Jacket: I wanted something leather for a bit more weather protection in the cold weather. This sharp, stylish Bilt jacket with a removable liner fit that bill perfectly.
Sedici Carbinio Gloves: With gloves, I was looking for something that fit well and had the knuckle dusters for protection. However, the short length of the gloves don’t offer a lot of weatherproofing on the wrists in cold or wet weather.
Bilt Pro Tourer Waterproof Boots: The only complaint I have about these waterproof boots is that the insole sucks. However, within 5 minutes, I had a comfortable pair of Dr. Scholls installed and I’m off and riding. I don’t regret this purchase at all.
